Oil burners are combustion machines used extensively across the globe. The main purpose of oil burner is promoting efficient burning of oil fuel. Generally, there are several oil burners available in the market like high pressure gun type, low pressure gun type, vaporizing pot type, and different kinds of rotary burners. Though the basic processes on which such burners depend on are same, the process of combustion can vary.
Fuel nozzles have their own role for oil burners. There are some other types of fuel nozzles like gas or diesel fuel nozzle used for various processes.
How Does a Fuel Nozzle Work?
When separating oil into tiny droplets, energy is needed for the application. When it comes to nozzles, such energy is supplied in form of pressure, commonly from a rightly designed motor driven pump. It is necessary to first convert the velocity energy so that pressure energy will not break up oil. This process is done by supplying fuel under pressure, commonly 100 psi on domestic burners and then passing it through slots or holes. The velocity of oil is very high from these holes.
The process of combustion can be considered from the mentioned below steps:
- Oil must be vaporized as all combustible matter-much be converted to gas or vapor prior combustion can happen. This is normally done by the application of heat.
- The temperature of mixture should be enhanced above the ignition temperature.
- Oil vapor should be mixed with air to add oxygen for combustion process.
- It is a good to remove the combustion products from the combustion chamber. This helps in preventing any trouble and works it properly.
