When it comes to measuring the flow of water, particularly waste water, the role of ultrasonic flow meter comes into play. In order to measure the flow, the ultrasonic waves pass through the water. Such meters provide a lot of advantages while compared to the conventional mechanical meters usually as they do not need lots of maintenance to operate. Ultrasonic flow meters require low maintenance because they do not have any moving parts.
If you want to measure quantities of unclean liquids regularly, you can use ultrasonic flow meters. Make sure to use only when the water is clean with no particulates, and make sure they do not have any bubbles. In fact, the liquid requires particulates for measuring a minimum of 100 microns.
Additionally, the concentration of the particles requires at least 100ppm. Simultaneously, the meter will not work properly in case the particulates are thick to coat its specific parts- hence preventing the ultrasound waves from passing through the water.
Make sure that you consider the following points while choosing an ultrasonic flow meter:
- You need a handheld monitor for measurement repeatedly
- It is necessary to consider the minimum and maximum rates of flow, the process temperature and the pressure of process that the meter needs to measure
- An appropriate size of the pipe should be considered
- A continuous process monitor is fixed one and important when you require to monitor the flow of liquid for an extended period
- Choose between digital output and analog
