Fuel Nozzle: Benefits and Types

Fuel nozzles control the characteristics and direction of a fluid’s flow,as it exits an enclosed pipe or chamber through the outlet. A nozzle is commonly a tube or pipe of the varying cross sectional areas. It can also be used for directing or modifying the flow of a fluid (gas or liquid). The nozzle is commonly used in checking and controlling the rate of flow, mass, speed, direction, shape and the stream pressure.

Benefits of Fuel Nozzle:

  • Higher initial cost
  • Maximum reach with available water
  • Nozzle flow control
  • Reliable hard-hitting streams
  • Nozzle reaction is a direct indication of flow
  • Adjustable to the varying conditions of water supply
  • Accurate nozzle pressure with suitable flow

Types of Fuel Nozzle:

Jet: A hydro jet, fluid jet or gas jet is a nozzle used to eject the fluid or gas in a coherent stream. A gas jet is usually found in barbecues, ovens or gas stoves.

High Velocity: It increases the kinetic energy of the flowing medium frequently at the rate of internal energy and pressure.

Propelling: A jet creates a net thrust from the energy obtained from a combusting fuel added to the inducted air.

Spray: Nozzles makes a fine spray of liquids for the best performance.

Magnetic: These nozzles is proposed for different types of propulsion like VASIMR wherein the flow of plasma.

Vacuum: The vacuum cleaner nozzle is available in various shapes.
